The Girls Scout Silver Award

The Silver Award is the second highest award of the Girl Scouts of the USA. Only Cadette Scouts ages 11–14 or in grade 6-8 can earn it.

Girls must complete a Cadette Journey prior to beginning their project.  Once the journey is completed, girls must complete a 50 hour service project that leaves a lasting impact on the community. Upon completion of the silver award project, the Girl Scout may need to submit the Girl Scout Silver Award report to their local Girl Scout Council.

My Silver Award Project began by thinking about what was important to the community, what I was most interested in being involved with, and how I could do something that would make a difference. There were a lot of possibilities but after talking about my options with my parents, I realized that my greatest passion is in my community sports programs.

I decided to focus on three tasks:

1. Clean and paint the softball and baseball dugouts

2. Clean out and organize the food and drinks in the snack bar

3. Paint a mural on the outside of the snack bar

Do a good turn daily.

The Girl Scout slogan, which has been used since 1912, is a reminder of the many ways girls can contribute positively to the lives of others.
